Title: botanicula
Post by: Alex on February 28, 2011, 07:29:42 am

In the topic "plachy trpaslik (shy dwarf) (http://forum.amanita-design.net/index.php?topic=216.msg714#msg714)" JD gave us a link to a short game created by Jaromír Plachý (who created all the animations in the comic bubbles throughout Machinarium).

Poking around Plach's site (http://www.jaromirplachy.net/) (after reading through his hilarious "Sphere and Cube (http://web.archive.org/web/20140226202128/http://amanita-design.net/blog/category/sphere-and-cube/)" series) I see that he's made a new point and click adventure game called "botanicula".  Clicking on the game icon doesn't launch it yet but keep your eyes peeled for when it goes live.  (or you could just wait for this topic to get updated and we'll let you know when it's ready to play... ) ;->

botanicula looks great! Hope it will be at least as long as machinarium and have equally great puzzles and wonderful music! :D

Is it just me or do some of the main characters of botanicula look a lot like characters from "Sphere and Cube (http://amanita-design.net/blog/2011/01/28/sphere-and-cube-i/)"?
(i could swear i saw a hair a sphere and a turd amongst them)   :D

"Amanita Design wants to launch Botanicula on Apple's iPad and Android devices around the same time that it hits the PC and Mac.  The developer admitted in a conversation with Pocket Gamer that it's also "thinking" about a phone version of the game, but states "that's still just an idea and we need to carry out a few experiments before we can talk about it seriously."  http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Botanicula/news.asp?c=34228 (http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Botanicula/news.asp?c=34228)

Sorry, there's no mailing list set up.  But you can click on the "Notify" button (next to "Reply") and an email will be sent to you the next time this topic gets updated.

For example, it's been almost three months since there was a new post added to this topic and I just got an email when vanilka posted their question.  Cool, eh?!   8)

I have a question concerning botanicula.....

It looks very lovely and in a way it reminds me of the samorost settings. Is it going to be something similar in length and execution?

Thank you for the kind answer, but surely you must have some plan for the game, right?

Sorry vanilka, you obviously think that we here on this forum are spokespersons for the Amanita Design team; but we aren't.  ( we are just fans, like you )

You must wait for Botanicula's release to find out what it'll be like... just like the rest of us shall.   ;D

Posted on the Amanita Design blog (http://amanita-design.net/blog/2012/03/17/botanicula-received-the-excellence-in-audio-award-at-igf/) today:
"the release of the game is close and we are working hard to finish it as soon as possible but the game is still a bit buggy so we had to push back the launch to April."

Daedalic Entertainment's site shows an April 3rd release date: http://www.gamona.de/daedalic-entertainment:company,205333/ (http://www.gamona.de/daedalic-entertainment:company,205333/)

Shameless bump & double-post.

You may now pre-order the game through GOG.com for $8.99 by following this link: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/botanicula (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/botanicula)
This will get you a DRM free copy of Botanicula on 19th April and the following goodies: 19 wallpapers, soundtrack demo, 35 avatars, 22 artworks, 12 character cards, 3 authors photo and 24 design sketches.

Does the Amanita Design Version (http://amanita-design.net/store.html) contain the full soundtrack or just three tracks like the GOG version?

Since I posted some complaints about technical issues, I also want so say that apart from them Botanicula is a wonderful peace of art and a more-than-a-game experience to me. Many thanks from Germany! :D

Hi, would it be possible to buy a DVD version of Botanicula from your website or at Amazon Uk ? I already bought the download version, but I would like to have the DVD just like Machinarium... Thank you Amanita for all these wonderful creatures

You can purchase the DVD version of the game from Amazon Germany.

Thank you Lamkin. Why did they develop a German edition ? Do you think there will be an English one (like Lace Mamba's Machinarium) ?

Title: Re: botanicula
Post by: Lamkin on May 31, 2012, 08:55:01 pm
Why did they develop a German edition ?

If you recall, Amanita had developed a German edition of Machinarium, and Jakub Dvorsky, head and founder of Amanita, had fairly recently said, "It's very difficult to find a reliable and professional publishing partner especially for an adventure game nowadays. Daedalic Entertainment is not only a very reliable and professional company but working with them has always been a pleasure. We are sure our next game Botanicula is in very good hands with them."

Do you think there will be an English one (like Lace Mamba's Machinarium) ?

I don't know for certain, but it seems pretty doubtful. Notice here (http://www.daedalic.de/en/news/Daedalic_to_publish_Amanitas_Botanicula) that it says that "Daedalic will be the exclusive publisher of Botanicula." So that word "exclusive" would, of course, indicate that this will be the only retail version....although there's a version of Botanicula that was released in the Czech Republic (http://amanita-design.net/blog/2012/05/23/botanicula-na-stancich-botanicula-is-now-available-on-dvd-at-czech-newsstands/), but that's where Amanita is from. So again, my guess is no, but I suppose it's possible.

Thank you again Lamkin, you are very helpful and kind..
Unfortunately I have been to Prague last year and I won't come back in a while, so I think it would be impossible to buy the Czech version from Italy. I think I'll try Amazon.de

Thank you guys for this game!!! It's amazing!!! I have never played in such beautiful, lovely, cute and good game. This game is for soul! And I want to paste here my comment for Russian gamers, if you are not against of it)
:)  #botanicula
