hello Jason, I pre-ordered from your website but noticed that Amazon UK and Play.com are much cheaper, can you please match their prices (16.99 GBP and 14.99 GBP respectively)?

Fantastic, I've been waiting for a boxed release! Two questions:
- will the retail version be already patched?
- will game.co.uk or sendit.com also be selling Machinarium? If not, I can always order it directly from you.

By the way, I'm looking forward to Black Mirror 2, Gray Matter and Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island, too. ;)

There's no reference to the retail DVD having Windows, Mac + Linux versions on the disk. Amazon only say Vista/XP. This can't be right, can it?

Many Thanks,
Steve

When will the US set come out?

Their site (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-p-55.html) says "This product will be shipped on Friday 05 March, 2010"
And, like stevescat already pointed out, there's no mention of Mac or Linux versions being included.

Yeah, I read that. Bummer.  :-[ Although the demo plays perfectly so there has to be a way to make it a .dmg file or whatever. Sigh.

Regarding a Mac version, I stumbled across this link earlier today:
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/13067846/Machinarium/Product.html#
The wording on the cover clearly states that the DVD is Mac-compatible. (I've e-mailed Jason for clarification.)

That's great! I'll have to find a US version. Play.com is so cool, but pretty much for the UK. Thanks!

Play.com is so cool, but pretty much for the UK.
Yeah, it does seem like they won't ship to the U.S.; and neither will Amazon.uk. However, Mamba's site will ship to the U.S., I believe. (Actually, I'll have to check on that, but I'm almost positive that they will.)
Now, as far as waiting for an American publisher to release the game over here, I don't think, given what Jakub has said, that it's ever going to happen. So the UK release might be your best and only bet for an English boxed version.

Does Mamba only accept Paypal? It won't let me change payment options.

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: Lamkin on February 04, 2010, 06:37:15 am
[Mamba] won't let me change payment options.
It will towards the end of the ordering process. Although Mamba's site had, um, strongly encouraged me to use PayPal, there was, at one point in the ordering process, an option to pay with a credit card. (Specifically, the screen which came up immediately after clicking a button to confirm my order had an option towards the bottom of the page to pay with a credit card.) However, after I entered the card info I was informed that I couldn't "use a card number that belongs to an existing PayPal account," so I had no choice but to go through PayPal. Aargh.

Thanks. I hadn't gotten that far since I figured i'd be able to change the payment options before hitting a confirm button.

Ordered!  :D or preordered in this case.

Hi, I received my copy in the post yesterday and am, unfortunately, having some problems.

The game worked fine on my PC at work, however, there doesn't seem to be a Mac version there (after trying it on my iMac at home).

Is there no Mac version on the disc? Perhaps I misunderstood...

Uhm. Lamkin?

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: Lamkin on March 06, 2010, 04:14:34 pm
Well that sucks. To be honest, though I'd asked, I'd never gotten any clarification from Jason. And I hadn't pursued it further because of the pictures I'd found which, so I'd thought, had left no doubt whatsoever.

So I would ask Harry if the wording on the packaging and the disc mentions/indicates Mac-compatibility. If it does—and I can only assume that it does—then Mamba clearly has a slight problem on their hands. (I know that 2D Boy had had a similar problem with the boxed version of World of Goo, and the problem had eventually been fixed. Not that that's exactly helpful here, but my point is that it certainly is possible that this is an oversight on Mamba's end.)

And if the wording doesn't mention or indicate Mac-compatibility, then where in the hell did they get that picture? =o( ;o)

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: Harry on March 06, 2010, 04:31:03 pm
So I would ask Harry if the wording on the packaging and the disc mentions/indicates Mac-compatibility.

I can confirm that "MAC DVD Compatible" is on the front of the box. The disc also has "PC DVD-ROM MAC DVD" on it. Furthermore, on the back of the box under operating system requirements, "Mac OS X (10.4 or newer)" is listed (alongside Windows and Linux).

I assumed the disc would be a hybrid like Blizzard games, but I guess not :(

Post by: Lamkin on March 06, 2010, 04:42:08 pm
Thanks for the quick response, Harry.
Well then Mamba has messed up. The good news is that I'm sure you'll get a replacement disc. The bad news, of course, is that that may take some time. =o(

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: Harry on March 06, 2010, 05:30:46 pm
Well, at any rate - Mac Compatible or not :) - it's still an awesome version of the game.

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: Lamkin on March 06, 2010, 05:41:33 pm
Oh, I'm sure it is, but again, it would appear that Mamba has messed up big time, so that's not good. Mac users, in general, will not be amused.
But, like I said, I'm sure they'll straighten things out eventually; I'm sure they'll willingly send out a replacement disc.

Edit: By the way, Harry, where did you order your copy from? 'Cause I suppose it's possible that only one retailer has this issue. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

Title: Cannot get MACDVD Compatible boxed copy of Machinarium to work on Mac
Post by: Akujiki on March 07, 2010, 01:13:40 am
I have recently purchased a boxed copy of Machinarium and it clearly states on the box that it is MACDVD compatible, even displaying the minimum system requirements for the Mac on the back of the box. The Game DVD does not contain any Mac related files, only an exe installer. Am I missing something or is the game not Mac compatible contrary to the packaging?

Title: Re: Cannot get MACDVD Compatible boxed copy of Machinarium to work on Mac

Assuming it's from Mamba games, I'd e-mail Jason at jason@mamba-games.com and ask him your question. I say the more Mac users who e-mail the guy, the quicker this'll get straightened out.

that's strange. did you try the DVD on Mac? there should be 2 partitions so you won't see any Mac files on PC. I already contacted Mamba and asked if it's ok or not. I hope they let me know soon. btw. I haven't received DVDs yet so I can't try it myself.

Attached is an image of Disk Utility, showing the DVD info and the Finder window containing the files. The two folders contain the game's music in mp3 and flac formats.

The fact that the DVD is just called My Disc, worries me somewhat, perhaps it's just a dud copy?

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread

I pre-ordered mine from play.com

Box image on their site has Mamba logo on it (and "macdvd compatible", whatever it means).
I could not find any mail contact, I think it will have the same mac compatibility issue.
I have just canceled the order since I won't be able to return it after a certain time (i.e. if and when the issue gets fixed).
What a pity :(

Mr Jason Codd posted a half-message here on 27 Dec 2009, hope we will hear from him again.

EDIT: Oh, and Mamba site is still down. I've found these on "develop magazine" site:

The DVD should be dual hybrid dvd. The content which you see is the PC part, which should not be visible on the MAC.

To me, it unequivocally means that the product is Mac-compatible. I don't mean to sound rude, but I fail to see what else it could possibly mean?

I'd pre-ordered mine from Mamba's site, and although I have little doubt that my copy will have the same issue, I have no plans to cancel my order. My guess is that Mamba will provide any and all dissatisfied Mac users with a replacement CD (or a new box altogether) free of charge.

And I'd asked Jason in two separate e-mails to verify whether or not his product was Mac-compatible, but he'd never addressed my question.

Hmm...
Yeah, the German boxed version of Machinarium contains a hybrid disc that shows no .exe installer when I open it while running OS X on my iMac, so I'm not sure what Mamba has done here. 'Tis quite odd.

I've arrived at this forum due to the no-mac-version problem..... My copy arrived friday from shopto.net (under £11  ;D ), and I was also disappointed to find no Mac copy of the game on the disc like advertised  :'(

Hopefully they'll come up with a system where we send them our proof of purchase and they give a link to download the full mac version.... was really looking forward to playing this over the weekend...

I'm fully expecting that Mamba will either offer to replace the disc itself, or offer to replace the entire box, for free. I'd ordered the DVD from Mamba so that I could own a physical copy of the game, so I won't be happy with merely a downloadable copy. =o(

Lamkin, your boxed German version is not the collectors edition yet, right? And it works on your Mac, right?

My guess: Game is for PC. "Mac dvd compatible" (with specs) means that on your Mac you will be able to read the dvd and copy the OST folders with hi-res PDF covers.

Actually I already own the game in all its digital versions and the OST (2 digital copies and a vynil record) :) .

I was interested in the printed stuff (mainly the concept art booklet)

I wonder if guys at Amanita have something to say about all this.

EDIT: THANKYOU :) :)

I dunno. I (respectfully) disagree. =op I think that "Mac-compatible" means that the game works on the Mac. Period. And you'd mentioned the specs. I'm assuming those requirements are identical to Amanita's stated minimum requirements which are needed to run the game on a Mac. Why else would they be listed on the back of the box?
I'd also like to know if any of the printed material mentions anything anywhere about installing the game on a Mac. Can anyone answer that?

Has anybody on the other side of the Atlantic gotten the game yet? I had mine preordered in February and I still haven't gotten it yet. When I check the mamba site, the only thing listed under order history is that I paid using Paypal. Wouldn't it say when my order is processed or shipped or something?

I haven't either. I'd e-mailed Jason about this yesterday. He responded and said that Mamba has had to reproduce all of its stock because of the whole Mac-incompatibility issue. However, after, um, scrutinizing the old timeline here—the orders were supposed to be shipped on the 5th of March, but the Mac error wasn't caught until a few days after that—I'm still confused as to why the game was never shipped on time.

Hi, I just bought this in my local Game store and am having trouble getting it to work. I am using a PC so not bothered over missing the Mac part of it, although I think that is what I am stuck with.

There is no .exe to run. The soundtracks are fine but in the Machinarium folder all there are are 0s and 1s folders (the game files I understand), a Machinarium.app folder, a MacOS and Resources folder and inside those are a lot of .lproj folders for different languages and .rsrc files.

Have I been sold a Mac only disc as I don't recognise those file formats and all my web searching leads me to believe these are Mac files?

Simply amazing. It's not like no company has ever created a hybrid CD or DVD before, eh? How difficult could it be? And the thing is, although I have a Mac and want the Mac installer, I plan on purchasing a new iMac soon that'll be able to run Windows as well as the Mac OS, so it'd be nice to have an .exe installer too. I think after all of this is finally straightened out, we'll each own about three or four boxes. =op

Got a response from the 'contact us' option. Basically, they should have a clearer picture of what's happened on Monday and will be in touch shortly about getting a new copy couriered out.
I haven't provided my address as yet but will do when they contact me again as I wasn't sure how to provided proof of purchase (bar a scan of the till receipt).

Yeah, I haven't heard anything from them either. At the very least, send an canned email to me and everyone else who hasn't had their game shipped yet to say "The original print run of the game is defective. We'll ship your order after everything is solved. Sorry for the inconvience and thank you for you patience." At least feign some professionalism. As it stands now, I don't even know if they know that I ordered from them.

Morning Gentleman,

I am using Jasons account here. My name is Petro Vanezzia, and am a producer at Mamba Games, I also look after the "Machinarium e-mail" account. We were brought to the attention of this on Friday morning and obviously we are very angry about this, due to the fact that we did a days worth of testing on over 20 computers. I wanted to give you a full low down on the issue, so hopefully you can understand that this was none of our doing, and another mistake by our duplication house.

After we did the master testing we have to upload the ISO file of the game onto a large server, once this image file is uploaded to the server the duplication house then download manuall for checks and they provide results which test the files from download to the physical disc. The checks came out 100% clear and they progressed and checked the version on their CPUS also, which of course worked fine.

What it looks like and where the problem has generated, is that the files are then placed from server to the duplication server *where they burn the discs*  and this is done manually. It appears that the responsible person has been incompetant and not transferred all of the files and basically made a huge mistake which has resulted in this error.

I think its important that you guys know the situation. So, what the duplication house is doing is generating new discs and packages, I personally am going to the DH today to ensure that it is done properly and I am estimating a 3-5 day turnaround on stock, and then logistics will send you a new version out then so by the end of the week you should have the product.

Lastly, I do want to apologize for this to all involved and it's very very frustrating for us also, but unfortunatley this was out of our hands, needless to say we will not be using the same company again!

I know you have been discussing via Jason, but as head producer I think its imperitive that you have it from the horses mouth *as I disclose everything to Jason for him to discuss here* so this is the reality of this sad, sad situation.

I will keep you all up to speed throughout the week and progress been made.

Again, I want to apologize on behalf of us all. If you have any questions you can email me on the "Machinarium" e-mail address and of course I will give you a full heads up!

I wish you all a pleasant week and I will be in-touch very shortly. Please note also, I have tried to respond to as many e-mails as I can, so hopefully this will ease your mind.

My best Regards,

PV!

I got the collector's edition today, and thankfully it worked fine on my PC. Don't know if there are any Mac files on there but I don't really care.

Anyway, according to the back (and the promotional information) the music CD was supposed to have the soundtrack and the five bonus tracks, however when I checked it out it only has the soundtrack. Again not a huge deal since both are included as FLAC files on the game disc, but just wondering, was this another oversight? (Or perhaps just poor wording?)

OK, slow as I am, I get it.

First time round, it was advertised as Mac-compatible and it wasn't. Now it is, but the UK Collectors edition isn't PC-compatible, which is tough on me as I have both that edition and a PC.

So, what can be done to fix it? I'm happy to swap my disc for that of a frustrated Mac user, but would prefer the producers get me a replacement.

At least you received your game. I preordered (and payed) my copy through the mamba-games.com site on 19.February - thats 5 weeks ago - and still haven't received anything.
And now I can no longer reach their website  http://www.mamba-games.co.uk or the forum. I always get the error that the page can't be found. Money gone, no game received, no info mail and I can no longer reach the website. If I didn't know it better I would call it a scam.  >:(

Hi All, PV here!

In response to : countjabberwock : All the stock will start to be sent out from Monday onwards - the new stock with both versions will be ready tomorrow, so logistics will start to process all of the renew stock.

Our server at the moment has a ESD server been worked on so the site goes up and down for testing reasons, thats all.

Are you aware of the typos on the back of the case? They seem to reside mainly in the system requirements section. For example, 'Oporating system' should be 'Operating system', and after mentioning Linux it encourages the reader to 'try thr deno first' rather than 'try the demo first'

'Windows' should also be capitalised
I feel like I'm being a bit picky, but things like this do lower the perceived quality of an otherwise very professional package, which I am otherwise proud to own. Although, come to think of it, I think you should consider re-wording the demo recommendation entirely, it seems a little... rude, perhaps?

Hi,

i imported the Retail Collectors version from a eBay seller to Germany.
After i realized that it is not working on my wifes mac, i found this thread
and read that we have to write mamba an e-mail with the copy of
the receipt and so on...

I made a screenshot of my PayPal-Transaction and a screenshot of
the eBay "Bought" page with the listed transaction.

Till now i didnt get an answer or something in this direction
if i will get a new Mac CD....?

Its really annoying... :-\

Hi KrazyKraut.  I've seen many many of those eBAY listings for the Machinarium Collector's Edition (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=Machinarium&_sacat=See-All-Categories) and dreaded the possibility that all those that were being offered were from that first crop of "missing MAC-" or "missing PC-" versions.  And, unfortunately it turns out that they were!   :(

In my opinion (for whatever it's worth) Mamba should send you - and anyone else that obtained one of the flawed releases - a fully functional replacement disk, since (even though it wasn't directly their fault (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4818.html#msg4818)) the buck should stop with them.

However, they could decide to make the argument that since you did not buy directly from Mamba but from a reselling auctioneer of the product they therefore have no responsibility to correct the problem.

This could be the reason you still haven't heard back from them - namely, because they're still making up their minds as to how they will proceed concerning complaints such as yours.  Keep in mind that, as I've said (and shown), there have been many many such auctions on eBAY going on now ever since *before* the official (albeit flawed) Mamba release.  So Mamba is looking at one hell of a huge cost to their bottom line if they decide to honor buyers such as yourself.

Again, personally I think they should.  But, ultimately, I'm just some whacky bloke that moderates this forum out of respect for what Amanita Design has accomplished... they probably won't care what I think.   ::)

In any case, good luck K.K.!  I hope things work out for you.  Please keep us updated.  And, if Mamba won't come through, maybe we can find someone that got the MAC version but wanted the PC version and you two can trade?  (for example: look at John Conner's post! (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4835.html#msg4835))

Im pretty sure they will send you the mac version CD.
Just be patient as this time they really need to be sure about what they are doing :P

I hope you're right jst65!

Hey guys,

Stock is leaving over the course of the next days now so you will receiving shortly. There is no order, its as quick as our logistics can can get each and every one out.

Also in regards to Ebay purchases - we will also swap these so please send address over and we will issue you a new copy.

RE: Scam - Its a little short sighted to think its a "scam" in fact for a company that ships closer to 1m units of product last year I dont think this classifies as been a scam. We have apologized for the stock not arriving sooner but as mentioned there were issues with the discs, so I have kept you all informed of the situation and we are getting through this as quickly and effectivley as possible.

Actually I would like this thread to be informative and not a 1-poster complains collector.

In any case I don't mind spending a couple of extra euros to buy from Mamba instead of some retailer if it feeds Amanita pockets a little more :)

I second that sentiment!  In fact, for the convenience of anyone following this thread that held off ordering until all the kinks were worked out, here's the link to Mamba's Machinarium Collectors Edition (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-p-55.html).    ;D

And thank you Petro for keeping us informed while all of you at Mamba worked to correct all the production errors that have occurred and, thanks also, for taking the high road and offering to swap eBAY auction purchasers' disks as well.  THAT is what I call "supporting your products and honoring your customers"!

I can understand that you're frustrated, MogalBogal.  But we're just the Machinarium fan forum here.  We're not Mamba!  You wrote directly to Mamba and that's the way to go.  So now just wait for them to get back to you.

My guess is that the majority of those former posters (including myself) are still waiting patiently for a replacement copy—or, in some cases, any copy—to be shipped to them, so, consequently, they can't quite let you know how things have turned out because, um, nothing has turned out yet. ;o)

So alright, when PV says that they will send replacements to eBay purchases,
we have no problem to wait another 2 weeks.

Wish you guys Happy Easter and hope that you get your replacements asap, too!

My replacement copy just arrived today. And there is a PC installer on there!
No idea if there are Mac files on there (I assume you just can't access them due to the dual nature of the disc) but I have just installed it this minute and it is working fine.

On a side note, I never got any email replies from machinarium@mamba-games.com so don't be disheartened if you don't either.

PS: It's not just a replacement disc, but the whole box all over again!

HI Guys,

Bank holiday here, please note one thing - as mentioned I am really doing my best in getting updates to you - but I cannot reply to every single request - I will do my best of course ;)

Happy Easter to you all!

Hey, elsewhere in this thread "MrFoxter" wrote (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4875.html#msg4875) that "The back side of the box says that there should be a Linux version on DVD, too."  Can you confirm if that's right?  (with all the drama about the dual OSes disk mix up I can't remember now if Linux was *ever* promised or advertised)

It's definitely not mentioned on the Collector's Edition web page (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-p-55.html).

And are there those promised bonus tracks on soundtrack CD?

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: Viking on April 02, 2010, 11:10:38 pm
The music CD is the same (14 tracks soundtrack). As before the mp3/flac files are also on the game disc as well as for the bonus EP. So that's a no if you were expecting the audio CD containing the bonus EP tracks. I have no issue as I usually just rip my CD collections to my MP3 player.  :)

Linux is still mentioned on the back of the box under the "Operating Systems" section (with the same spelling errors) but I have no idea if it's on there. It isn't advertised prominently or even on the front or spine of the box so I would say that's a 'no' on that one to be honest. The only files I can see are the 2 soundtrack folders and a single "Install-Machinarium.exe".

Hey ABoretz, thanks for bumping my question!

Then I guess Linux version is just another typo.

I think we can be glad that PC/MAC version is now successfully out. I'm happy that Mamba is so responsible and instead of forcing us to return wrong copies sends us new ones free of charge. Thanks ;)

Thanks very much P V. I guess you've been a little bit busy of late I bet this little distribution fiasco has been a nightmare for you  ;D

Thanks for your hardwork in sorting out this mess. It's very much appreciated.

I will reccomend this game to all my Colleagues, friends and Family.

Peace.

Well the community asked me to come back and say how it panned out and I'm glad to say a replacement copy came in the post today. Quite surprised at how quickly it came, I only emailed them on Tuesday. They replied asking for my address, which I gave and asked if I needed to send them the faulty copy, I didnt didnt get a reply then the game came in the post two days later. Tried the disc and it works fine, installed without a problem :)

Hi All,

Just want to say i bought the collectors edition on Saturday. That night i found out it didn't have the PC version on the disk. After some digging i emailed the address on this thread.

On Tuesday (bear in mind Monday was a ank holiday here) i got a response saying a new version would be sent
On Wednesday i got the new version, with the PC game on the disk.

Can't complain about service like that, if only all companies were the same!

Hi Fusca,
Notice that cdwow.com states "Due to high demand, this item is temporarily out of stock"?  That's probably because Mamba has recalled the first releases of the English Collector's Edition and are having to re-send the fixed versions to all resellers (read this post (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4818.html#msg4818) for specifics).  You'll have to wait or choose to buy directly from The Source: Mamba (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-p-55.html) (who, as you can see on this thread, are actively involved in servicing all customer complaints/issues, so they're cool).

As for why the Machinarium.net site still only lists the other 3 languages, read this post (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4798.html#msg4798).  It's a fair bet that Amanita Design is waiting until they are absolutely certain that the corrected disks are perfect.

Just my two cents.   :)

Just to saw that I ordered the collectors from Play.com way back as an advance order, the faulty DVD arrived on the 29yth of march.
I informed machinarium on the 30th by e-mail, supplying various details about purchase order etc.

I did not get any email reply, but today (9th April) a functional PC DVD arrived to me in Ieland shipped from the UK (from LAce Group).
It also installed okay :) ..and came with the full collector edition box (which is lovely by the way, and the walkthrough printout is very cool).

I am pleasantly suprised, obviously somebody is trying their best to make up for the mistake.

Regards,

7 days ago I received a mail from Mamba that finally my package has been shipped. It arrived today but in a worse condition:
http://img718.imageshack.us/i/damagedpackage.jpg/

It was shipped in a simple envelope and not a safe bubble wrapped package. After opening the package I realized that the box has been badly damaged in one corner (the whole corner is missing):
http://img31.imageshack.us/i/boxtv.jpg/

I could live with that but unfortunately the poster and and art book were damaged too. Again a whole edge is missing and when I unfold the poster it looks like a silhouette - 10x10mm holes all over the poster.  >:(
http://img180.imageshack.us/i/holesy.jpg/

Is it possible to get a replacement for the damaged poster? As I said I can live with the damaged box and the DVD is fine. I don't want a second box. But I can't use the poster with all these holes so I'm asking if it's possible to ship me a single new poster/artbook?

I received on April 6 the following reply to my status request of April 1:  "Hello.  A version has already left, our system updates every 24 hours, but due to this issue it may take longer than expected. Regards. MG"

I am in the U.S., paid for "flat rate" shipping.

Anyone else in the U.S. (or not) have any idea how long it should take?  Assuming my copy was sent on April 6 it has been 10 days, may not need to worry about it until over two weeks, but thought it see what others' experiences have been.

Many thanks to all for this very helpful forum.

Yep.  Machinarium is showing up all over the place.  (I hope Amanita Design is getting a fare share of the selling price)

Anyway, FWIW - per your mention - I found these EB Games store links that are selling Machinarium...
Oz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia) - http://www.ebgames.com.au/pc-149884-Machinarium-Collectors-Edition-PC (http://www.ebgames.com.au/pc-149884-Machinarium-Collectors-Edition-PC)  ($48.00)
Aotearoa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aotearoa)* - http://www.ebgames.co.nz/pc/product.cfm?id=16556&refer=smallhero (http://www.ebgames.co.nz/pc/product.cfm?id=16556&refer=smallhero)  ($49.99)

(it's still cheaper from Mamba (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-p-55.html) :-)

Hi All,

Please forward all required information to the following email address:

machinarium@mamba-games.com

Please include:

Proof of Purchase (or order number for your vendor)
Address to where the disc is to be delivered to,

We will then update you shortly when to expect the MAC version on disc.

Regards.
Jason

Just discovered this today, are the replacements still being distributed?

I bought two copies (one for myself and one for a friend) and I've forwarded the two email receipts to Mamba. Hopefully they'll send me two discs so I can pass one along to my friend.

I am never buying from Mamba ever again since I still have not received my copy nor even a defective copy, and I was charged for this pre-release way back in December, nor have I received any confirmation that it has been sent (I emailed you on three separate occasions, PV, and you never once confirmed that you even got those emails). You have exhausted my patience and would like a refund.

Mine has just arrived :)
Exactly 2 weeks from the "shipped" status change.

Just 2 notes/advices for Mamba guys:

  • Please, use bubble envelopes.
Good thing the box inside the paper envelope (!) was cellophane wrapped: it suffered really minor damage (only about 3mm of the outer cardboard cover corner worn out) that I can easily live with. Nevertheless it's a COLLECTOR'S edition, so let's say I would have picked another one from a shelf ;) .

  • Please, pay attention to the specified delivery address.
You shipped to billing address instead (!), and there's noone home during the day.
Luckily, this time the postman let my DVD on the mail boxes instead of trying to stuff it inside, and no one stole it.

Hi Presda!

I have received it thank you! I wanted to also inform everyone :

1) I am merley a producer, I am not logistics, account, admin, marketing
2) I am really trying as best I can to email everyone but time permits, if you dont hear from me right away it is because I have other jobs, customers, products to work with but I will get around to you!
3) I did this line of thread because I wanted you guys to have a direct route to us, rather than going through customer service - I have done it myself with other companies and its not a pleasant experience as we all know!
4) I was informed yesterday some more stock is delivered on 27th April so more stock will ship on this date

Guys - I am really, really trying all I can to answer you and I have tried to keep everyone of you informed, I want to let you know this is nothing to do with our bosses, board - this is just me trying to play Mr Customer Services ;)

Have a great weekend and Ill be in touch Monday!

Hello All,

On Saturday last I bought this quite promising game called Machinarium only to find, guess what, that it wouldn't install on my PC (not MAC). A couple of clicks on the web brought me to this site (which I've trawled through) and I have already emailed Signor Petro Vanezzia with a new game request. For the record I bought the game from a high street chain in the U.K. and now I wait in trepidation. The opinions on this forum appear mixed but broadly in favour of Mamba's version of events and efforts to rectify the problem. This game had better live up to expectations or a chunk of their new/existing fan base will drift away to pastures new.

This game had better live up to expectations or a chunk of their new/existing fan base will drift away to pastures new.

Have you played the demo (http://machinarium.net/demo/)?  If so then you know what to expect.   ;D

For the record, the duplication "issues" that Mamba had with their English Collector's Edition version of Machinarium had *nothing* whatsoever to do with Amanita Design or Mamba.  It's the duplication house that Mamba used that is to blame. (reference (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4818.html#msg4818))

(BTW, newdrone, since you've already emailed PV you can be certain that he'll see to it that you are sent a replacement disk)

Has there been any news at to when, if ever, Machinarium will be sold retail in the US?

Having not received replies to my requests sent to machinarium@mamba-games.com, I just sent the following email:

I have been patient and understanding up to now.  I’m sorry for your problems, but if you have indeed been left to deal with this alone (i.e., no support from  your "bosses, board, logistics, account, admin, marketing”), then it reflects badly on the company, not on you. The company is responsible for delivering their product and should provide whatever is needed to facilitate that.

This is one last try to see if my game has even been shipped (even tho you indicated in previous email that it had) and if not, when it will be shipped and how long it will take to get to the U.S.

If no response by tomorrow I will contact my credit card company to dispute the charges, and just look for the game somewhere else retail.

Email sent on April 20:

To: 'Tech Support Machinarium'
Subject: RE: Machinarium - status request
On April 6 your email (see below) indicated Machinarium “has already left,” and that it should be posted on my account shortly.
•   It is now April 20,
•   I have not received my game (PC version),
•   and there is no delivery notation on my account.
I expect and would appreciate a prompt reply, and if the game has NOT been shipped I would appreciate the courtesy of your sending it by expedited delivery. Thank you.

hi everybody interested in English boxed version,
we hope to publish some nice boxed special edition version in the future on our own probably, because it seems publishers (especially in US) are not interested in adventure games anymore.
That was the only response I've seen from anyone at Amanita regarding a U.S. retail release. So...I don't think it's gonna happen.
(Then again, jd had posted that comment a few months before Mamba announced it was going to publish the Collector's Edition in the UK, so who knows? Maybe the U.S. will follow suit.)

Hi everyone

Another irritated buyer finding this forum through desperation. Difficult to believe that the game is still being sold when the problems with the installation are well-known. I bought my copy of Machinarium at Game today thinking I was going to have a nice, gentle break from World of Warcraft...never mind  ::)

Thanks to everyone who has kept this thread going and keeping all us noobs informed as to what to do. I have now used the email address given and hope to get the replacement disc in the near future. The game looks absolutely gorgeous - can't wait to (eventually!) try it.

I have received my copy for PC (ha ha) today.  It only contains Mac files although it says PC DVD-ROM on case.  So faulty dvds are still about.  I have sent email to mamba and am hoping I get a reply as I can't wait to play this game!!

Just be way of comparison I wrote to Mamba on the 26th of April and received a reply from Mr. PV on the 30th - which is pretty fast given the numbers that must be involved. As it's a Bank Holiday in the U.K. I'm hoping the game will arrive sometime during the week. Why some are left waiting longer than others is a mystery but it could be something to do with the country the person is from. Didn't one of the regular contributors say that Machinarium originated in Hungary?

Wow!  I had completely forgotten about this!
I ordered two copies of the Collector's Edition from mamba-games.co.uk on February 2, 2010 (according to my account there).
The order has not been updated since.  Good grief!   ???

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread

My 2 cents:

If it puts you guys to ease at all, I recieved my fixed (and only) copy about 2 weeks ago, after having it preordered since the beginning of February, but never recieved any confirmation that my email was recieved or that my game was shipped. My order page on Mamba still only lists that I paid for it, not that it ever shipped.

That said, if you guys emailed Petro, then you probably are on the waiting list to get a copy, whether it's your first or a replacement. I can't imagine Mamba is that big of a company and for this to blow up in their face must have them in severe damage control mode. If this was a big company like Capcom or Sony (which I've had problems with in the past with stuff not being sent in a timely fashion or at all), then all this hate would warranted. But for Mamba, I think just doing what you need to do and then waiting is all you can do. Even though I was guilty of it also, complaining here isn't going to make good copies of the game appear at your door any sooner. Though an outlet to voice your frustrations might make you feel better.

Title: Re: Official Mamba Games Retail Machinarium Thread
Post by: razputin on May 04, 2010, 02:03:57 pm
I agree with you Chronis about the size of Mamba Games, except that I also think that complaining here is actually a positive thing since it has actually generated a response from the Mamba Games where some us might have actually been lost between the cracks. And it also allows future potential customers of Mamba Games know what our purchasing experience has been like and how well Mamba handled it. If we all post a positive experience in the end (I am still waiting for my first copy!), others might consider purchasing from them as opposed from Amazon UK.

If we all post a positive experience in the end
THAT might be a useful contribution for other users.

I guess Chronis meant complaining="2 weeks and still nothing!", "no mail response!", etc which is kind of useless to me.

Big Kudos to Mamba my copy arrived today in pristine condition . Everyone's methodology of complaining is different but nonetheless individually valid, provided it is constructive . I think for the most part it has been on this thread. I don't understand what is useless about saying: "2 weeks and still nothing!", "no mail response!" if that's the position, what else can you say? All we want is what we paid for and a simple acknowledgement that your complaint has been logged would've gone a long way to curbing my whining. Bottom line, Mamba delivered and the game is magical. I have no doubt all of you still awaiting a parcel will get a replacement eventually. And , for once, the wait is well worth it.

Well done to Mr. PV at Mamba, I sent my one (& only) email off to him on the 26th of last month, got a response on the 30th to say that the game had been posted, and it arrives yesterday. I've started playing it and it's great fun. I've read some of the opinions over the last few days and I agree that there is no point having a go at Mamba for a colossal balls up that they had no hand in. However the sending out of replacements does appear to be very piecemeal but then I suppose they haven't had much practice of this (or ever expected to!). Having waded through some of the more predictable crud the larger players in the business pump out these days it's refreshing to see some innovation. Smaller outfits like Mamba who are coming up with fresh material should be supported otherwise we'll all end up "playing" stylish but repeditive offerings which are essentially regurgitations of once influential games, Well, that's my soapbox over with. Again thanks to PV for sending me a replacement.

When is the last time Amazon or another reputable online vendor did not correctly update your order status and/or ignore your e-mail to customer service?  That is why I'm unhappy.  I preordered two copies that I have yet to receive or even hear back about.  No legitimate publisher does this.

Hi,

I have just received my new PC DVD-ROM collectors edition of machinarium, put the disc in my new compaq presario windows 7 laptop and.....nothing.
I thought i'd got something wrong with the setting so 1 hour later i tried finding how to install games on my laptop. No dice.
Finally i search for installation instructions for Machinarium where it would seem that i've encountered a well known problem - it doesn't work on my PC.

I'd really like to know what i'm supposed to do now - its bloody election day and i wanted to escape in a good reviewed little game and i'm now spending the evening trying to find out what's wrong and how i can resolve it.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

David

Hi David.
Since you've found and posted in this thread of the Machinarium forum, you probably know by now that you received a MAC install disk instead of the PC/MAC hybird disk that Mamba originally intended for release.  Read here (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4818.html#msg4818) why it's not their fault and what they are prepared to do about it (namely, once you email them you will be sent a replacement disk).

So, unless you own a MAC in addition to your PC, you'll have to find some other game to pass the time with tonight.

May I suggest Samorost1 (http://amanita-design.net/samorost-1/) and/or Samorost2 (http://amanita-design.net/samorost-2/)?   ;D

Regards,
Alex

Despite the hassle I still feel good about the company and will continue to support their products - with more confidence now that I know they are true to their word.   :D :D :D

Other developers (LIKE EA, THQ.... and so ON) so put their eyes on them!

Sadly, I have to report that I'm still waiting for a copy of the game.  >:( First I ordered, way back in Jan from the mamba games website. I was sent a different game in Feb.  ??? I emailed to complain. Then I got a Mac only version in Mar.  ::) Since then nothing except an email asking if PC only version would be OK (I replied in the affirmative). I've emailed about six times with little response.  :'( Jason, I'm still waiting at SK7 5PR

See this thread: http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4818.html#msg4818 (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg4818.html#msg4818)

You should be writing to machinarium@mamba-games.com (http://machinarium@mamba-games.com)
And, the last we heard, the name of the contact responsible for Mamba disk bugs is Petro Vanezzia, not Jason.

Good luck!  And please let us know when you eventually get the right disks.  (it would be good to know whether or not problems are getting worked out)   ~Alex

Here is a list(with my personal details edited out) of the emails i've been sending mamba games, this first was on the 6th of July, i've not had one reply!:

From:    [*****************************]
Sent:    22 July 2010 10:06:57
To:    machinariumCustomerSupport mamba-games (machinarium@mamba-games.com)

Hello Petro please find below the three previous emails i've sent about this, the first back on the 6th of July and still no response from anyone. My '28 day return' policy for the high street store GAME has expired(as you can tell from the date of my purchase of this game given on the receipt details in my first email).

I'm getting tempted to simply come over(as you are based in London):

Mamba Games
Office 404
4th Floor
Albany House
324/326 Regent Street
London
W1B 3HH
UK

And demand what i paid for - if i don't hear back from you soon please expect a personal visit, as i also live in London(see my postal address in my first email). :)

I've also joined the forums at the machinarium website(user zak gordon) and will start to post my situation there if it will help the process at all.

I hope to hear something, from somebody at Mamba games soon. Just to make it clear - i'm after the PC version of the game(i only got a Mac one in my Collectors Edition(which i can't run).

yours sincerely,

Zak Gordon

Just to remind you i'm still waiting to hear back from you. I can't now return my game to the GAME store as the 28 day return policy has expired, and i still have the MAC only version, even though i paid for the PC DVD version. I'll post on the Machinarium forums as that seems to get some response.

I live in London, and i think you are based in London also, so this is really easy to sort out in terms of postage. Please give me some kind of response asap,

In relation to this post on the Machinarium forums that i read:

"Hi All,

Please forward all required information to the following email address:

machinarium@mamba-games.com

Please include:

Proof of Purchase (or order number for your vendor)
Address to where the disc is to be delivered to,

We will then update you shortly when to expect the MAC version on disc.

Regards.
Jason"

-------------------------------

I'm a uk customer who bought the Machinarium Collectors Edition(PC DVD-ROM) from the high street store Game. It came with the two disks(game and music disks) and all the artwork etc, but it seems i probably only have the Mac version on my game DVD as it doesn't autoplay when in both my computers and on browsing the DVD i see no '.exe' type files anywhere or anything that can launch the game on PC. I suspect i've got one of the 'Mac only' versions i've seen talked about on the forums.

I really want this game, so rather than go for a shop return i would like to receive a working PC version of this game please :)

These are the details you requested above:

Proof of Purchase:

Shop address game bought from:

Game Stores Group LTD
64-66 Clarence Street,
Kingston-Upon-Thames,
Surrey

0871 594 0066(i guess the shops telephone number?)

Order details on receipt:

24/06/2010 13:58 (date+time of purchase) [code********* code**********](not sure about what these numbers are)

[code***************] PC MACHINARIUM 19.99

Address to post PC game too:

Mr Zak Gordon
[**********************]

([***************]Details editied out in this post - included in the actual email sent)

I look forward to hearing from you and hope this mistake wont put you off helping other interesting indie games like Machinarium get the retail shelf space they deserve.

Yours sincerely,

Zak Gordon.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So are these guys still in business? Anyone currently getting any information back from them? It's getting close to me calling trading standards about them, but i'll try this forum first before making a personal visit to their company address to get what i've paid for.
Some kind of reply would be nice.

I bought a Machinarium Collector's Edition copy directly on the Mamba games website on 10th August...but my copy still have to arrive...I live in Italy, so it's not so far away from England...
I sent them 3 emails, 2 via the Mamba games' contact page, one to the email for the machinarium collector's edition problem that has been discussed here for a while...but still no answer...suggestions?

Hello!

I bought Machinarium from Play.com back in March, but I opened it just two weeks ago.
My DVD has only the MAC-files, and I have a PC.
I have sent Mamba Games two e-mails about the problem, but I have not received any answer.
 :-\

Should I write another e-mail to them, or should I wait a little bit longer?

I saw that the contact from Mamba was posting messages very often in March and April on this thread.
Why hasn't he posted any messages after April?

Regards,
TermingBoss

I just checked and the Mamba site is up and running.

Link: http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-collectors-edition-p-55.html (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/machinarium-collectors-edition-p-55.html)

Have you looked in your email SPAM folder?  (the reply you've been waiting for may have been redirected there)

Also, please take the time to read ALL the posts in this thread to help calm your concerns.  Note how many times people posted saying "I haven't gotten the disk I was promised!" followed by "Got the disk."  Everyone that asked for one e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y got one.   ;)

How long has it been since Jason wrote to promise you a new copy?

Aboretx, the problem is that I ordere a copy one month ago...and nothing is arrived yet......... >:(

do you think is a good choice to send an email also to Amanita and asking if they can reach (because maybe they can reach faster and better Mamba Games) them and asking why they do no reply to anyone?

I'm tired to wait...and I'll not wait another month for sure  :-\

Hi Marco.drum
Sorry, I understand your frustration, but I don't believe that anyone at Amanita can make Mamba respond quicker.

Try using this link to send your complaint to Mamba:
http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/contact-us-i-7.html (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/contact-us-i-7.html)

Good luck and please write back to let us know when you get your disk.

Today I wrote them for the last time to all emails I could find...finally Jason reply me, apologizing for the delay (he said that they had an issue with their system a couple weeks ago) and telling me that he will send a copy very fast...and..."" I will also organize a free copy of another game as an apology.""..... LOL !

so let's see,
I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for helping me ABoretz, I really appreciate it  :)

Yay!   ;D

And thanks for posting this news Marco.drum.  I hope your story will assure all other persons with the same problem that Mamba can be trusted to make things right for everyone.

BTW which was the better way to contact Jason; through the Mamba website (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/contact-us-i-7.html (http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/contact-us-i-7.html)) or his direct email address (machinarium@mamba-games.com (http://machinarium@mamba-games.com))?

The only way I found to let them understand that I was trying to reach them since 3 weeks, was to send an email to every email I could find in the mamba games website...via the contact form, writing to the machinarium dedicated email, to the jason email, to the support email, everything xD

they had an issue in mid august, so I think they lost some of their data.

@TermingBoss: try to write to these emails:
-jason@mamba-games.com
-support@lm-global.net
-machinarium@mamba-games.com

jason and someone from the support email answer me the day after

Hello, Marco.drum!

Thanks for posting the e-mail addresses.

I sent an e-mail to jason@mamba-games.com yesterday, but I haven't got any reply yet.
So now I will send e-mails to the other two addresses also.

I will let you know how it goes.

TermingBoss

Hello!

I just wanted to let you all know that I just got an e-mail from Lace Mamba Global.

They told me that they will send me a new copy of the game ASAP.  ;D
That is great news!

I am really looking forward to play the game!  :D

Thanks for your help, Marco.drum!

The e-mail address I got the reply from, was this one: support@lm-global.net.
So if anyone else has the same problem as I had (No PC-Version on the Collector's Edition),
they should try to contact Mamba through that e-mail address.

Read through this thread (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,806.msg5554.html#msg5554) and you'll find all the email addresses that will connect you to someone at Mamba staff that can help you.

BTW, why didn't you just purchase the game from http://www.snowball.ru/machinarium/ (http://www.snowball.ru/machinarium/) which is based inside Russia rather than Mamba which is in the U.K.?

Snowball does not distribute collector's edition.

Hello Jason Codd,

I have purchased the DVD in store in Australia.  I was delighted to find Linux mentioned on the front cover, and so parted with my money.  HOWEVER it does not appear to work on Linux, contrary to the claims on the front cover of the disk, so I am unhappy about this.  I would be happy to download from your website, and use that as from all accounts, that does work on Linux. However, I wish to do this without re-purchasing.  You will appreciate that I have already purchased.  I would appreciate correspondence, or an email address so that I may correspond regarding this soon.

"I've just read this sad article (http://indiestatik.com/2013/01/25/never-paid-us-a-single-cent-lace-mamba-global-breach-publishing-deal-with-cbe-software/) about UK publisher Lace Mamba and must say that we have the exact same experience. Lace Mamba released boxed version of Machinarium and since then they don't pay and communicate. And not only with us but probably with every game developer who signed the deal with them (Daedalic, Colibri Games, CBE and others). Please don't buy anything from this company!"

"A very solemn letter by Jakub Dvorsky, Managing Director of Amanita Design, has just been sent to the desks of every journalist in the industry. According to his statements, a recent involvement with Mamba Games Ltd has turned sour. Instead of summarizing everything Mr. Dvorsky has to say, we have included his letter in its entirety (http://www.pixelperfectgaming.com/?p=40339)."
