I have the issue with the black screen. When the game starts, I see the Amanita logo, then the Machinarium logo appearing, after that I can access the menus on the bottom edge and also two (disabled?) icons in the top right corner, but everything else is just black.

I got the game from GOG and used their Linux installer (gog_machinarium_2.0.0.2.sh). The game is installed in my home directory, all permissions and the launcher seem to be in order. I also tried to launch it manually, with same results.

I ran it with strace, and I can see that the application successfully opens and reads files 00/00000000.000 and 00/11111100.111

In the About box, I read that the hardware acceleration should be disabled, and tried to do this as well, but for some reason I can't. If I access the Flash settings dialog and uncheck the "Enable hardware acceleration", when I return to this dialog it is checked again. It works for the web plugin however, e.g. on Adobe's test page I can enable/disable acceleration and it stays that way.

My specs:
Gentoo Linux 64-bit
www-plugins/adobe-flash-29.0.0.113

EDIT: just figured it out - something was wrong either with the rights or some stale files/settings in the ~/.macromedia folder. After I deleted it, the game started properly

Well, the Amanita Team must be on their way to the coming GDC in San Francisco by now.  And CHUCHEL is in the running for the "Excellence in Visual Art" award category.
Wishing Jara and his development team good luck!

Based on their Twitter accounts it looks like Jakub, Jara, and Lukas are definitely attending.

I hope everyone embarking on this journey makes many new friends, business/creative contacts, gets to eat some fresh seafood, and gets super inspired while they're here!
(plus they'll be going up about 30 degrees Fahrenheit from current Czech Republic temps  ~woot!~  )  Wink

Botanicula game has been running smooth on my Note 8 when it was on Android N however upon updating to latest Android O now when I open the game it is simply displaying a blank screen on the start up and gradually crashes itself after few seconds. Any idea how to fix it?

One of the only amanita design songs that remains truly locked in my head, is "Little Devil's Tune", from Samorost 3, because of its comedy, but I also enjoy a lot of the other songs. That's just the only one I can site right after someone wakes me from my slumber.

March 12 STEAM post

Hey guys,

We just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you who supported CHUCHEL and his crazy little adventure! And there's no better way to celebrate than with a silly GIF

We've also got an important question - would you like to see more of these ridiculous pictures, GIFs and stories here on Steam? We can do that if that's your wish!

Have a great week y'all!

Hi barbelkraut,

Although the technical specs to run CHUCHEL on Windows clearly state: OS: Windows 7, 8, 10...  I have also seen that the technical specs to run AIR on Windows state:

2.33GHz or faster x86-compatible processor, or Intel Atom™ 1.6GHz or faster processor for netbook class devices
    Microsoft® Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 Classic or Windows 10
    512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
AIR SDK Development Supports Microsoft® Windows 7 and above, 64-bit only

And then found this direct quote on an "Adobe Flash Player Issues | Windows 8" support page:
"If you are using Windows 8.0, please update to Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 to continue to receive Flash Player updates"

So this may be the reason for your error message and you may have to update to Windows 8.1, but I'm just guessing.

I suggest you post your question on the Steam CHUCHEL discussion forum to discover if anyone else running Windows 8 is having the same trouble you are.

And, finally, you might wish to have a look at this info page: "Troubleshoot installation of AIR on Windows".

Sorry I couldn't provide you with a sure fix but I hope you'll either find your solution soon or one will be provided directly from Amanita Design support.   Wink

Good luck and please post a follow up when you solve your problem.

Thanks.

p.s.  Just found one more link that might help you: "Why I can't run an app of adobe air on windows 8?"

p.p.s.  On further examination I think you may succeed by using "compatibility mode".  Explained here.

Hi, I installed Chuchel just now (Windows 8 ) and I'm getting this message when trying to run it: 'This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.'

I have already installed Adobe AIR and restarted my computer. Is there anyone who can help me to solve this? Thank you!
