Can’t get off first planet!

I’ve gone through walkthrough videos and text descriptions, i have all the accomplishments and my spaceship is built and I have returned the knife... but I get to the screen where I can see the comet and the other planet and the dotted circle... and my ship just stays hovering above the first planet. I can’t get over to the comet at all. The spaceship hovers in the air for 10-15 seconds and then descends back onto the planet and I’m back on the planet again.

I’m tapping and pushing it over and pushing up and swirling around and nothing happens to my damn ship!!! Why can’t I get it to the comet?!

Well, that dotted circle represents the range of your ship...so you'll need to tap on the comet when it enters the dotted circle. My guess is perhaps you're tapping on the comet when it's not inside the dotted circle??
