Title: Machinarium Box Cover
Post by: popsUlfr on October 01, 2009, 09:55:07 pm
For those interested here's the amazon.de (http://www.amazon.de/EuroVideo-Bildprogramm-GmbH-Machinarium-Samorost/dp/B002PAR4CU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1254420023&sr=8-1) German Box Cover.
The hi-res cover you can enlarge is actually made out of multiple smaller parts held together by the means of a script. You can't simply copy & save it.
Therefore I've thrown all those parts together:

Cute box art :) Would love to buy it but in english, not german. My guess is that this version has been translated.

Quite a shame that it says "Von den Machern von Edna Bricht Aus und The Whispered World" as in "From the makers of Edna Breaks Out and The Whispered World" on the box. Although Daedalic Entertainment made both of those games (I'm playing The Whispered World at the moment and it's great) they certainly didn't make Machinarium so it's a bit of a misleading information but a very clever and nasty promotion from their side. The Amanita logo is almost invisible from all those symbols and boxes. Plus, it doesn't even say anything about Samorost 2 or the additional audio content.
Then again, it might only be a part of the deal that Amanita made with Deadalic to publish the game.

I'm interested whether there are plans to release the same box and content in english ???

Yep, exactly my thoughts kind Sir. I wanted to add this to my post but the forums were incredibly slow yesterday...

It's very misleading and not paying much credit to the real authors *sigh* but what do you want this is a Publisher they can throw pretty much anything on their cover :P

It might still be worth it despite the translation. The only words seem to be in the menu, and you could work out what they are from the demo.

maybe it's the german habit of occupying?
just joking, i'm german myself.
but i think i programmed a nice game series with samorost.  ;D
---
and i really think they did something unfriendly with that statement on the cover. can't be in the interest of amanita.

Back in June JD wrote: "the boxed version will be released this fall in Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.", referring to Deadalic, then he continued, "we are now negotiating also other regions."

From that I think we can assume that some other publisher will be responsible for the English version.

Ah, now that you mention it... that post rings a bell. Thanks. Although I already have Samorost 2 boxed version and pre-ordered Machinarium as well, I'm gonna wait for that special edition in english :) Don't forget to let us know when you have further details. Nobilis, Atari or Paradox might be interested in publishing the game. They seem to support indie developers all the time.

yes, i remember that sentence too and that was one of the reasons i pre-ordered the non-boxed version, but well.. after playing the demo i would be very angry with myself when i would have to wait any second longer than nessecary for the whole game :)

but i so hope that the negotiations will get us the english boxed version with soundtrack as well

I've an absolute hatred for those huge USK symbols though >:(

If it gets a boxed release in any other Country I would gladly take it

Is there any new information about an English version? Specifically, is Amanita Design currently negotiating with any distributor to publish a boxed version in the United States? Just curious...
=o)

"Incredibly warm atmosphere. Nobody makes anything like this nowadays" - igromania (Russian games magazine)

hi everybody interested in English boxed version,
we hope to publish some nice boxed special edition version in the future on our own probably, because it seems publishers (especially in US) are not interested in adventure games anymore.

What a shame... but LucasArts seems to start out again in this genre with Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition also Telltale.

EDIT:Renamed this thread to be more streamlined ;)

One more vote here from Hong Kong for the boxed English version with soundtrack!
I'm a game collector and also a product designer, so digital copies are really not my interest!
It would be awesome if Amaniata changes their mind!
I would love to buy the game even if it costs me 30 bucks!

You hope that Amanita changes their mind? Jakub (i.e., jd) just said (only three posts back) that Amanita Design will most likely publish a boxed version themselves, so this is good news! =o)

I'd gladly pay whatever sky-high shipping costs were required for a boxed version to be sent halfway across the world.

Hello, yet another vote for the English boxed release.
Machinarium is a must buy for me, so getting it digitally is out of the question - beautiful boxed version is a must.

Having bought the digital version, I wouldn't mind buying the boxed version, if it is more that just a dvd case with a cd inside.

I mean, a nice box with at least a manual and some artworks would be awesome !

If my vote counts, I also would like to buy an English boxed edition too!

Just thought I'd add my two cents for an English-version box... I very much would like to give this as a gift to some special people (my nephews, some friends) and not all are quite as 'connected' as I am (for example, the computer that my nephews use is not connected to the web, in consideration of their age). Therefore, a box would be more appropriate and simply, nice (although I am generally in favor of all digital exchanges to avoid waste from materials and transportation)

I also imagine that an english-version would be popular not only in the US & Canada or UK, Australia, New Zealand...Barbados, Bermuda, Granada, St. Thomas... um, I'm not sure of all the places in the world where english is the official language, but anyway, I think that in lieu of a spanish, portuguese, romanian, farsi, swahili, urdu version (etc., etc.) an english version would help broaden sales worldwide.

English box version? Yes, please.

I like most of what was done with the German one (except for maybe the bubbles), so if it would be something like that... I'd buy it.

You can see the "bubbles" Zjeraar is referring to here (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,599.msg3039.html#msg3039).   ;D

I'd buy an english boxed version, too. I've already played the preordered download-version but I love the game so much and would like to put that nice poster on my wall. I just didn't buy the boxed version in germany because of that sticker at the right side bottom. :P Publishers should NEVER be allowed doing something like that.

Has there been any headway on producing an English box version?
