Title: Machinaruim 'Bug'
Post by: chewynouget on July 25, 2012, 05:22:27 pm
Hi there. The other day I was playing machinarium, I was playing against the old OXO robot using the Lambit Technique (Look it up).

But I mucked up, placing the second loop 1 square away instead of two. (Again, look it up).

I thought DAMN IT and started mucking about waiting for him to win,I started placing pieces under the piece on the right of the first loop, and the bug occured.

I placed a piece in the top left hand corner, He placed one on the second to last row, a placed one next to my other piece and so on.

But what happened was I kept placing pieces, and so did he. I mean, He had about 9 pieces in a row whilst I only have 3 in a row, yet I still didn't lose. The only way to end it would be if I won

I just felt I should bring this to someones attention, Thanks.

That's Lamkin (http://amanita-design.net/forum/index.php/topic,701.0.html).  ;~>

And, yeah, that was probably a bug.  A while back someone posted something similar (http://amanita-design.net/forum/index.php/topic,670.msg3866.html#msg3866), having to do with having placed 6 of their pieces in a row and the game not registering that as a "win".

And that's probably what caused it.

On your next go around did you apply Lamkin's solution successfully?

Can I first thank you for such a great response.

I'll be honest, I started telling some people in my skype call about this and kept clicking along in a straight line, and eventually won. Though I do feel kinda bad :(

Can I thank again for your genuine consideration!

I think chewynouget mistook you for Mr. Limpet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sItfoiWpnb8) since something fishy was going on with the 5inarow puzzle they were playing...   he he~>
