Would you ever consider making Giclée prints of these images?

no:) these are backgrounds from unrealized animated feature film. we created a few pilot backgrounds (with help of painter Zdenek Danek), character designs and some animations.

It would be awesome if we could see some higher quality versions of those backgrounds. :) They looks awesome, but it's hard to tell what's in them. I'm especially intrigued by the one in the bottom left.

Beautiful images!  The one on the right in the bottom row reminds me a bit of John Howe's work (shades of Hobbiton).

Also I'm intrigued by that conspicuous empty place holder to the far right.  :)

we are just preparing another exhibition in Pardubice (it's here in Czech Rep.). it'll be collective exhibition with our friends painter Zdenek Danek (http://www.zdenekdanek.net/) and multimedia artist Jakub Nepras (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgedAFGi2Yw). we'd like show Machinarium playable and other finished games, music videos (one brand new) and many prints with screenshots from our realized and non-realized projects and also some sketches etc. the exhibition will be open from 26 November to February 2009.

as for the posters - sorry, I don't have a single one.

Post by: jd on December 11, 2008, 03:46:00 pm
the exhibition is called Druha priroda which means Second Nature. nice catalogue done by Linda Ciharova was published. you can buy it in the gallery in Pardubice (it's written both Czech and English and it costs 220 CZK I guess).

Her performance art looks charming.

Was she the inspiration for Samorost's gnome?    :D

Agreed.  Me too!
The good news is that the gallery's website now has the catalog available via their e-shop!

But... um... can anyone recommend a good crash course in Czech?     ???

I want it!! ;D

Tried to buy it through that webshop (220 CZK is only ...

unfortunately back in 2009 we had a glitch here on the forum that would truncate all text that followed a "special character", like a £ or a ©   That's been fixed but we can't recover the original text...  :~(

Hi guys,

the problem is that the catalogue on that czech webpage is being sold quite differently compared to the standard credit card payment method. They send the catalogue via express post and you have to pay directly to the guy who delivers the catalogue to your hands. This method is quite common here (I live in Slovakia, neighbour to Czech republic) - but I doubt they will send the catalogue via this delivery system to other countries. I have also ordered this catalogue and now I am curious whether I will get it or not.

Thanks for explaining to us how such catalogs are usually sent and paid for, loki.  Please post an update if and when you receive a copy, as will we other enquirers if anyone on the gallery staff gets back to us.  (meanwhile I hope our pesky enthusiasm hasn't gotten JD into trouble with the Pardubice gallery...   ::)

Well, I used Google translator for entering my data and decoding the messages so I was going to wait for the postman to come home for me to pay, but I guess that's not going to happen...

Also Druha Priroda available here http://www.antikvariat-benes.cz/index.php?kat=5&dir=&str=2&st=Druh%E1+p%F8%EDroda&pg=detail&idb=22852&ord=1 (for 420 czk with shipment). You should write to benes@antikvariat-benes.cz, giving your email for paypal invoice and explain which book you need.

But as I understood, books are second-hand there.

Thank you, Mariya! But actually I don't want to have a second hand book. I would like to have a new one.

Could anyone who live in Czeck Republic buy this book for me? Please!  :'(  I can send the money via PayPal.

I shall say sorry - the book is new (brand-new as just published). God knows why I read those internet shops and decided that it is "second-hand".
Amanita team, this is really really beautiful, and the design is so sweet. It is pleasant even to hold it in hands. You should publish such books with art&sketches at least once a year, dont keep them in a desk, just scan and publish everything you have  ;)
