i used to download black copies of expensive games for which i did not know if i’m going to like them. especially but not exclusively if they had no (proper) demo out in the wild. warcraft 3 was such a case. no demo for a long time after the release. got a copy from a friend, played half one of three campaigns and bought it. if i don’t like a game (which i can sometimes only say after i played half of it), i dump it from my hd and never look at it again.

the whispered world is not that cheap and known to be good, so i wished it for christmas from my girlfriend. and machinarium is cheap and i knew that i’m going to like it, so it was a no-brainer.

BUT

if somebody doesn’t have enough money to buy himself, say, the newest battlefield, i totally like the thought that he/she just downloads it anywhere and ea can fuck off.

long story short, i support good games and indie productions. something that is nothing of both doesn’t deserve a cent.
