Dual Monitor Mouse Issue
«
on:

I downloaded Botanicula and was able to get it running on my system (Ubuntu, if it matters), however there seems to be an issue with the mouse. The game loads full screen in one of my monitors (the primary), but my cursor location does not "map" properly in the game. When my cursor is at the far right end of the game screen, it seems to be recognised as being in the middle, as indicated by language options in the initial screen becoming highlighted.
I think the game thinks it's in the middle of my combined screen space, despite it only existing in half of it. Any suggestions on how to correct this?
Thanks.

AFAIK the game wasn't designed to run on twin screens and I'd be surprised if you got it to run that way. Try playing it in a single monitor config.

That's unfortunate. I never had issue with Machinarium, but I don't know anything about the differences between the two games.
I was able to modify the settings.xml file to switch it to windowed mode. That seems to work fine.

On my dual monitor system botanicula runs without problems. The issue being that it will only run in fullscreen off mode. The display is fine on the primary monitor. No need to change the x-window server settings. Mouse cursor position is accurate. The window size might be changeable by modifying the initial xml file. I did not try it (yet)
I run kubuntu 12.04 with NVIDIA generic driver in TwinView mode.
Please reply if anyone wants more details on my setup.

Look for the file /usr/games/botanicula/botanicula/bin/BotaniculaLinux.app.xml
Open the file as root in an editor of your choice.
Find the entry <width> and change the number (it is in pixels). Do the same for <height>
Keep the aspect ratio the same.
Save the file and run Botanicula. It will start in a window of the size you defined.
