I haven't deleted and redownloaded the app as yet cos I wanted to know if that worked for anyone before attempting to start the game from scratch.

Either way, deleting your current installation and re-downloading a clean copy of the game is the best and only advice we can give you.
I've also lodged my complaint through the web portal but haven't gotten a reply yet - hoping they will address my problem soon cos otherwise I'll want a refund on this!
If once you've tried re-downloading you find that you're still stuck at the same spot THEN you can send your complaint
here.
A refund you'll have to manage through the iTunes site.
Please be so kind as to post a follow up to let others know how you eventually resolve your problem.
