The launch of Samorost 3 says PC and Mac.  Does PC include Linux?

Thanks, SDX   Smiley

Ah... that was just a couple months ago.  Doesn't sound likely then.

Thanks.

It's understandable since their crew is small and there aren't a lot of potential customers on Linux, but I'm still hoping that it will be released on Linux later. Else I may give it a try using Wine, but I'd much rather have a real port.

I may have to kick my Linux ego to the curb and dust off my Win7 VM.

Just don't tell anyone.  Wink

I was able to get it to run under wine with PlayOnLinux. Smiley

A seperate virtual drive, with 32bit wine 1.9.6, then installed adobeair and d3dx9_36 via winetricks (perhaps unnecesary).
The installer exited with some runtime error, but it is playable without any problems till now Smiley
Ah, I used the GOG installer btw.

I guess I'll drop my experience as well.

Never been a big fan of Wine, but gave it a try using the windows version of steam and installing it that way. It worked alright, but some parts of the game got really frame-y (mostly the ghosts, especially if you interact with them). Eventually I decided to just play it through on my dusty Windows 7 partition.

I have finished the game now, but I may still give some other work-arounds - like the one mentioned above - a try. I didn't use winetricks for anything but some fonts so maybe that would help a good bit.

It seems to work with the latest stable wine.

https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=33533

It runs properly for me but I have not tried it for too long.

wine1.8 install in ubuntu :

Yeah, vanilla wine (w/o any tricks) is working well enough (I'm running the latest stable Linux Mint).  A tad jerky at times (e.g., when the ghosts appear), but it's definitely playable and enjoyable.

It was a tad choppier on my Win7 VM.  So I'm happy wine is working as well as it does.

Hey, and this is a 6 year old machine to boot.

Thanks all,
SD

Ah, I used the https://ahappygirl.com/breast-actives-review-results new breast actives GOG installer btw.

It took me a while but I finally got it to work by using Wine which Samorost works great on.

Hello all,

I first tried it with a Windows 7 VM (as guest on a Ubuntu 14.04 host with XEN), at the beginning it worked just fine, but after a while it consistently crashed with this error:
http://forum.amanita-design.net/index.php?topic=5320.msg16080#msg16080
Then I installed wine 1.8 and initially it also ran fine, but when I tried to save my session - same error :-|

Re-installed everything - does not help.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi!
Have you looked through the replies on this thread? In case anyone's
method of setting up the game on wine or wherever was different
from yours, be sure to try it. ratti up there is even using a newer
version of wine. Otherwise I can't really help, nor can't most
people on the forum, the issue mentoined in your post wasn't
even solved on a different thread.

And again...
April 13, 2017 Amanita Design tweet = "We would love to have a Linux version as well... Unfortunately we've found it technically impossible to make a 100% functional build of this game for Linux systems"
