I found a nice review embedded in a gamer's forum:

"Machinarium (PC) - This game runs incredibly smoothly on my laptop, which makes me both happy and sad, as it was a choppy, laggy piece of crap on my choppy, laggy piece of crap (and now dead) desktop rig. My son and I have been playing the game before bed over the past few days, with him telling me where to go while I move the little robot dude around. We really like the minimalist storytelling (everything is basically conveyed in animated, wordless thought bubbles) and the fact that everything is communicated in pictographs rather than text means that my son can follow along a lot better than if I had to read everything to him. And the game is just gorgeous... We have had to use the walkthrough book a couple of times because of some somewhat obtuse puzzles (or because my son's impatient and doesn't want to deal with my trial and error solutions) but most of the puzzles have been pretty apparent once we think about them for a few minutes."
