Title: Extract Mac Download Version
Post by: Spectre on January 05, 2008, 07:44:35 pm
??? I've downloaded from the two available links and extracted on two different Macs the Zip file with the same result multiple times.  I get a folder with components instead of a application file.  Is there a way to make this a application file rather that the folder.  You know, as when you <right click> and "show package contents".  That's basically what I'm getting, the package contents rather than an executable file.

Thanks
Bill

I'm sorry but installation file which creates desktop icon is available only for Windows. It was impossible to create similar file for Mac (for some reason).
However if you just unpack the folder to your hard disk and launch the game by samorost2.html file it will run in your web browser like the web demo version and without any installation.

Sorry to bump this topic, but I thought my post would be relevant to this specific thread.
Two (four?) quick questions:
1. Is there an existing Windows icon for Samorost2, and if so, could you you upload it as a .png file for us Mac users? (It'd be nice to paste it onto the generic folder.)
2. Will Machinarium work the same way for Macs and launch the game using only a machinarium.html file, or will Mac users have an actual standalone application this time around? (It doesn't really matter, I suppose.)

And, I'm really looking forward to the release of Machinarium; it looks awesome.

hi,
we'd like to have Mac standalone application for Machinarium and regarding the Samorost icon - here it is: (http://www.machinarium.com/pictures/ikonka.png)

Hi,

the story behind my joining to that forum is:
some days ago I happened to play Samorost and Samorost2 net versions
and I liked them so much that I also purchased the full version for Mac..

incredibly funny and nice game :)
thank you developers!

however I was bit surprised why the packaging was done just as a flat directory structure..
whatever.. after solving the game I was in good mood of writing and
just for fun I wrapped the existing structure into OS X standard application bundle and so on..
and so on

the short version af story:
I have standalone solution of Samorost 2 for Mac now ;)

JD,
if you are interested, then please contact me privately,
I'll send you the technical details of my solution and also
the working image which should work on any OS X
(actually tested on 10.4.11 and 10.5.7, both on PPC and Intel Macs)

the attached screeshot shows how the opened disk image looks in Finder window
(http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/ABoretz/Machinarium/samorost_finder.jpg)

PS. the funny thing is:
while I made that solution for me,
I wasn't aware of that forum here :)

JD, any possibility for this version be released, for those who have already purchase the game? Id love to be able to run the game from my dock and dont need to use safari for it.

Just thought I would post to clarify that this is not a true standalone solution in that it still requires you to play the game through your default Web browser, i.e., double-clicking the application merely launches your default browser, and you will be running the game via that browser, although you do not have to be online.

(It's not that big of a deal, really, but I thought since it was confusing to me that it might be confusing to others as well. And yes, having an application is still an improvement over having the aforementioned folder with its files.)
