Hi all from Aus,

Am deeply looking forwards to this and am wondering if we are to see the the English subtitled version soon?

Have recently discovered a long childhood passion for Czech animation. One of my two favorite shows on ABC australia as a child where Balthazar and a funny little animation about a mole. Only just this month I discovered they are both Czech. Am hoping to add this one to the list, even though its 35 year later.

I'm a bit confused  Huh. I heard it has been dubbed into English and will be premering at the Berlin Film Fesitval in Feb 2011. So, will I be able to order the DVD (with English dubs, and English subs to go with the czech version too prehaps?) online and import it to the UK?
Also, will the book be translated into English and will I be able to import that to the UK too?
Thanks!

I'm fairly positive I'd read somewhere (perhaps on Jan Svěrák's site?) that the English dubbed version will probably be released on DVD sometime this fall. But don't quote me on that. ;o)

And yes, the book will be translated into English. That was mentioned on the blog back in June:
http://amanita-design.net/blog/2010/06/13/kuky-se-vraci-book/
And Jakub commented very recently on the blog and said, "I don’t have much info about printed [English] version yet but the digital version with illustrations should be available soon."
So the printed English version is still in the works. =o)
Edit: English version fell through, sadly. :'(

The English dubbed version of Kooky is now available via Jan Svěrák’s 'Kooky eBAY store'.

"This DVD contains both original Czech and dubbed English versions. It is "all region" so it  plays worldwide on PAL or multi-region DVD players. If you don’t have such a player you can use your computer to watch the movie."

According to Amanita's Facebook page at some point Kooky will also be available on iTunes and iPAD.
