I need the batteries but I don't have a clue where to find the coins. The walkthrough is of no assistance in this.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

the robot in the wheelchair i believe it was, gives you a card to insert into the card slot to get money so you can get batteries.

so far he's only given me an oil canister, which I filled w/oil and now he wants sunflower oil. Do I need to get the sunflower oil first?

If you didn't go through the greenhouse you didn't meet the robot who needs the batteries.
@Kamar:
To get the second coin play the second machine. Pull the lever near the bycicles down to level 2 then ride them until the machine turnes on and play it.

Kamar- if you play the mini spider game to look at the walkthrough, the book will give you step by step instructions on how to solve it...
