Can't get the chicken here because it here is no empty lamp in the cupboard to siphon the light.  Think I took it and used it in another house without using it as intended in house g. Now what do I do?

Well, the only way to get the lamp from the cupboard is to use it first in that room. And once you use it in that room, the room goes dark and you can get the chicken. So...I'm not sure how you used the empty lamp in another room.

Is the room dark, Pdxgal55? If it isn't and the light is still on, could you post a screenshot with the cupboard open? (But please use imgur or something similar instead of attaching it to the post...as the forum has a limited amount of storage space. Thanks.)
And if the room *is* dark, and you can see the chicken, try tapping on him.
