By "German variant" I'm guessing you mean
this one, yes?
Not knowing German won't be a problem as long as you familiarize yourself with the opening screen (which is the only time text is used to explain what to do during the game).

here. After that first screen there are no more text hints/explanations given. All other hints are provided by the "kill the spiders" mini-game hint feature that only shows visual walkthroughs of each level.

As to your question about whether Windows 10 will play the game, the answer is: yes.
Plug "Can Windows 10 play Windows XP games" into your favorite search engine for the explanation about how to "run a program in compatibility mode".
