It was fun to visit the Snowball Studios' site using a web-based text translation tool.  That's how I was able to read the interview with JD they have there in "English"...
and learned that JD "used natural means in order to destroy the sterility of virtual peace"!   :D

http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/translate_url_content?.intl=us&lp=ru_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.snowball.ru%2fsamorost2%2f%3fpage%3dinterview

Of course I'm only joking.  I think it's really great that Samorost 2 has begun to achieve wider distribution!  Congratulations JD and everyone else at Amanita Design!!

Hello, sorry to bump this topic, but I hope there is someone out there who is able to buy this that can ship it to me in the United States? I can't find the DVD boxed version of this for sale anywhere, and have e-mailed the publisher and Jakub Dvorsky, but they had no boxed versions to sell or ship to me.

Hi.  Looks like you tried to use an accented letter "y" and that's why the rest of your text was truncated.  Welcome to our pesky resident forum bug (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,292.0.html).   :-\
Anyway, about getting a boxed version of Samorost 2, you can still get the CD version (http://amanita-design.net/samorost-2/cd/CD.JPG) by following the "Store" link on Amanita Design's website (http://amanita-design.net/).

Oops, thanks for the help. I didn't realize there was a forum bug.

Anyway, what I said after the rest of my post just disappeared is, I really would just like to get that sketchbook/artbook that comes with the Russian DVD Boxed version. If anyone knows how I can get this book only, or if it's in other releases available in places that ship to the US, that would be most helpful. I would love to have a little Samarost art book.

Even if someone is willing to get the DVD version shipped to them and then send it to me in the United States, I'd be very grateful. I will pay all shipping costs and them some if anyone can help me. :)

No one can reply with answers?

Well anyway, I guess if Amanita ever directly wants to sell the little Samorost 2 artbooks, please let me know, as I will be the first in line to purchase one.

I guess for now I have to try to make a Russian friend who will maybe ship to me.

If anyone else has any more solutions, please let me know too.

Try looking through the "Where are our members from? (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/topic,80.0.html)" thread and PM-ing active forum members living in Russia with your request.

Haha, thank you, I'll try that tomorrow.  :)

I hope they don't find me rude, I just really love this game, and I love collecting art books as an artist myself, no matter how small.

PM me if you have any luck.  I too am interested in obtaining the Snowball Studios' boxed set.   ;)

Well, I sent the messages, I hope someone can come through.

What's really weird is Snowball studios responded but couldn't help me. Why doesn't the publisher have extra copies of the games to sell?

They asked me first if I had a UPS account, so I signed up for one, but then later said they could not ship to me.

Snowball then told me to ask Jakub, assuring me that he had a ton of copies and could definitely help me more than them, but the thing is, I had asked Jakub before Snowball studios. He said he did not have any copies of the game or sketchbook he could ship to the United States.

This is frustrating because I wish there were another site that sold it besides Ozon. I have the money to buy this game and have it shipped here, but I can't seem to find the means to have that actually done.

No luck. I've sent every Russian member in that thread a PM, but they probably aren't active or are not interested in helping.

Maybe something will still come through though...  :(

Sorry to hear of your disappointment.  Hopefully in time there'll come a response to your requests.  I must admit that Snowball package does really look cool.   :)

Maybe this news will cheer you up?   ;)
"Retail version of Lace Mamba's point-and-clicker to include a 54-page concept art book (http://www.industrygamers.com/releases/5678/)."

More info here (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/27/retail-version-of-machinarium-comes-with-some-extra-goodies/).

Yep, that sounds great, and I should be able to have it shipped straight to my door! Can't wait!

Maybe they can throuw in the Samorost 2 artbook in the back...  ;)

Yeah, I wish for that too!
Too bad Snowball Studios was not able to provide you with their Samorost 2 package (http://www.snowball.ru/samorost2/).  Hopefully some of those sets will surface somewhere somehow...  eBay perhaps??  :-\

I live in Russia and could possibly try to buy Samorost DVD to send abroad.
 :)

No luck yet, but if it's any help from anyone, I found three sites that also carry the DVD box set besides Snowball:
http://www.cdvseti.ru/id13278.html
http://www.akniga.ru/Audiobook15521.html?obj=131
http://www.dvdshka.ru/id13278.html

I have no idea how to differentiate which one is legit or not, but it *seems* like Akniga ships to the USA since they gave it as an option. I placed my order and they are supposed to get back to me.

My brothers wife is Russian so she was able to get  me a copy from Snowball. I love it, if you know someone over there you should really try to get them to send you a copy.:)

I wish I did know someone. I've asked around the people I do know, but no dice. Also Akniga.ru never got back to me.

Look what I got in the mail today! :)

Ordered Machinarium at the same time (third time buying that darn game! ;)) thinking it might be a similar deluxe package but it was just a jewel case with a slipcover. It was pretty cheap though so no harm done.

For those wondering I ordered from kniga.ru (http://www.kniga.ru/). Took about two weeks, sent through registered mail, and it was really well-packaged (items inside bubble-wrap inside padded cardboard inside a plastic envelope.) By the way they are selling two different Samorosts; pictured above is the cheaper CD-sized one, I'm assuming the more expensive entry is the DVD-sized edition.

Paku! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I don't know if you live in the United States or not, but I'm guessing you at least live internationally from Russia. The site you sent accepted my international order! I think it should come with hope. I'll update my status when it arrives, as I got no orders and I paid a small amount extra for a little bit faster air mail, just because I don't want to screw this up. I bought the slightly more expensive version on the kniga.ru site, but I don't know if that's the DVD version or not, because the picture was the same for both versions. The description said it included the art book and all.

I really appreciate you finding a Russian media site that will ship internationally. I've searched the Russian name for Samorost 2 all over and couldn't seem to find one that would ship to the US or even the UK. I also have had saved searches on my Ebay account for over a year now hoping maybe it would turn up on some international Ebay.

Thanks again so much for the find and thank you too, ABoretz, for your help throughout the year on trying to figure out how to order this Samorost set. I guess good things do come to those who wait. This is going to look great next to my Machinarium Collector version. :)

You're welcome.

I actually had some trouble ordering as I tried paying with a Visa card using Verified by Visa, but even though the card was charged, only minutes later it was refunded, and the order was rejected. I'm not sure what happened, maybe the purchase was flagged as suspicious by my bank, but I tried the same procedure the next day and then it worked. The order status was also updated up until "Собран на складе", which I think means it's been packaged but not shipped. Was afraid they were waiting for something or there were some complications, but it arrived a couple of weeks later anyway.

I ordered using airmail as well as it was just a little bit more expensive but probably a lot faster. Anyway, I hope everything turns out all right for you. :)

Hooray! It came in the mail today! The little sketchbook is very neat and also comes with the photos that have many of the elements the backgrounds were made with. Very nice!

That was well worth it, thanks again Paku!

WOW, I am trying not to be jealous. I remember the first day I saw a trailer for Machinarium, the very next day I had the retail collector's edition imported from the UK. I was upset that it wasn't released for retail in the U.S.  I actually am just abut to buy the Samorost2 Soundtrack CD from Amanita's store which comes with a PC/MAC version of the game. But I really want to get this Russian version. Love the cover art. I sort of wish they'd let me buy Samorost 1 as a retail copy too, so I can play the game offline.

Question for the person with the link, could you please show me to the proper page to try and buy Samorost2 from Russia? Unless they are sold out, I can't seem to find the product on that site.

Thanks! and just how does 698,00 руб convert to U.S. dollars? Is that Russian Rubles or another currency?

also, I feel dumb asking this, but how exactly do I purchase through here? I know there is probably an add to cart button, but I don't want to accidentally do something I'll regret by messing up. For you others who don't speak Russian, how did you get around?

I don't know if you bought this already, but I'll try to help some. Kniga is definitely the only site I know of that ships to the US. You'll see earlier in this thread I could find no Russian site at all that shipped here.

Basically, I had to just keep entering stuff into Google Translate in Russian and translating so I know what I was filling out. Just follow the brown little shopping cart icon and also you will have to register with the site first.

It's a little bit of work, but there's no easy English friendly way otherwise.

The currency is indeed the Russian Rouble. If you want to check double check the prices, especially when you get to shipping costs, you can check at www.xe.com and convert the currency.

356 Roubles converts to around $12.50. I think I ended up paying around $20 total after shipping. Really not bad at all! Much nicer than other prices the game fetches in Euros or British pounds actually, and you get more stuff!

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks!

I have yet to buy this, but it's an extremely low price, and I love the artwork/casing. The only possible downside is that this version appears to only be for PC, where as the CD version sold on Amanita's website store contains both the Mac and PC version.

So I guess I'll buy that one first, and pick this one up later.

Helpful post! thank you again.
