Title: Syncing saves between MAC and PC (Steam version)
Post by: soiramk on December 29, 2011, 07:14:05 pm
Hi everyone!
Is there a chance in the future for Steam cloud support, for syncing between MAC and PC?
Or there is already a way to perform this sync?

@soiramk, I don't know anything about Steam cloud support for saved games, but your question got me searching for answers...

The saved game file for Machinarium is called a .sol - so "machinarium.sol" is the file that holds all your saved games.  Look for it on your system; it's TINY, measured in tens of KBs.  And, from what I've been reading online, the saved games of such titles as Fallout have save files as large as 9 megs!  So it technically wouldn't break the bank for Steam to support Machinarium.sol saved game files.  Maybe you could ask the people at "Steam" how this could be done?

Or...

You could read through our "Shared Machinarium .sol Files (http://machinarium.net/forum/index.php/board,13.0.html)" Thread and figure out for yourself how to transfer your saved games from MAC to PC and back again (and forget all that cloudy Steam stuff)   ;)

Let us know which route you take and how things work out.

if anything it would be up to the developer (Amanita Design) to collaborate with Valve on a Steam Cloud solution....

this is definitely a fantastic game but the way it saves your progress is not a very good method, evidenced by the number of different ways that various system cleaning programs can "accidentally" wipe it out

for info on where to find the saved game file, go to the link below and check out the "Mac FAQ" and "Win FAQ" sticky topics:
