Hmm... Possibly? Click on Profile up at the top of the page. On the left side you'll see 'Account Related Settings' under Modify Profile. Click on that and notice that the top box there says "This is the displayed name that people will see".

there is only an option to change what people will see, and having "two usernames" is something that i don't want. but thanks, anyway.

Hm? Everyone will see your new display name, yourself including,
tho for a log-in you'll need your original username.
