Hello,
A few days ago I bought Machinarium via Steam, because I was unable to do it from the developers website (machinarium.net) and wanted to know if there was a way, like when buying via machinarium.net, to get the OST via steam.

It's a great game, but I feel somehow ripped off considering I payed the very same amount to get a OST-less version.

The particular song I'm quite into is the one mentioned in the title.

Let me just post a Screencap to confirm what band I am talking about:

Can I get it from the game files?
If not, I can't but feel this was a rather unfair treatment, considering I believe I'm as entitled to a song part of something I paid for as anyone else who has gotten it... Specially if you consider that I had because I couldn't pay directly via machinarium.net (http://machinarium.com/order.html 404'd for two days when I clicked the 'Buy Now' button).

Then again, I don't know why would there be any difference between steam and machinarium.net, so I'll just keep these feelings at bay for now...

I sincerely hope you can help me with this simple issue.

Thanks you for a great game!

I'm not sure that Steam installs the same files that the download purchase does.

But if it did, what you're looking for is a file named "01010001.001".

You could then change that to "01010001.mp3".

And you would have the music you are seeking.

If that doesn't work for you... you have to ask yourself, "why am I mucking around with Steam?!"

This explains why I couldn't find it in the OST they were selling on another website.

EDIT:

If I buy the OST, can I get a FLAC file for this one song?

The track you want is contained in one of the folders that get installed on Windows/MAC.  It's not on the OST.
BTW, Floex (Tomas Dvorak), the composer of Machinarium's soundtrack thinks the mp3s are fine.  See here: Re: Soundtrack
